Gound Pork, Bell Pepper, and Onion Quiche

breakfast quiche 003

1 pound cooked ground pork

1  cup diced onion

1 cup diced green bell pepper

Salt and Pepper to taste

4 large eggs

1/3 cup whole milk

6 ounces or more grated Monterey jack cheese

*We use organic, pastured, and raw ingredients

One 9 inch pie crust:  1 1/2 cups flour, sugar, salt, 4 oz. butter, 1/2 cup cold water.  Mix the flour, sugar, salt in bowl.  Use a pastry cutter to “cut” in the cold butter until it is mixed into fine granules.  Slowly add the cold water.  Turn the mixture onto a floured cutting board.  Knead by hand by folding the dough over several times to help form layers that will make your crust flaky.  Wrap in plastic and refrigerate if you like (up to an hour) for better handling.  I am usually pressed for time and just roll it out and put the dough in the greased pie pan.

Cook the ground pork thoroughly; it will be tan/brown and no longer pink.  Add the bell peppers and onion.  Cook until the peppers are tender and the onions translucent.  In another bowl beat four large eggs with the milk.  Add the cheese, salt, and pepper.  Temper the egg mixture by adding a spoonful at a time of the hot pork mixture into the egg mixture.  You do this so the eggs don’t cook and clump.  Continue adding the pork to the eggs a little at a time.  After about half has been added, add the remaining pork mixture to the egg.  Pour the mixture into your prepared pie crust.  Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes or until set.

Senator Pan Gets an “F” in Ethics and an “A” in Venture Socialism

Instead of supporting the parents (citizens and taxpayers who pay Pan’s salary), Pan has gone to “the dark side”, and supports the businesses that fund his campaign.  AB 277 passed the Education Committee on Wednesday after 700 parents showed up the week before voicing concerns about losing their rights for vaccine choice.  Pan used loop holes in the system to change out Senators on the committee and arranged a closed vote where citizens were not aloud to speak at the meeting.  He received his advice from lobbyists from the California Medical Association who seek to further vaccinate the general public.  Senator Pan received $1000.00 from Merck in the 2010 election cycle.  He was donated $1900.00 from Pfizer,  got money from GlaxoSmithKline, and other medical corporations for a recent total of $95,000.  All this brouhaha over 50 measles cases at Disneyland earlier this year.  No one died!  What is ironic, is that a recently vaccinated measles person could have spread the measles!  If Pan really cared, he would be concerned about the “superbugs” that kill an average of 15,000 people a year due to drug resistance.  Where is the public outcry over antibiotic overuse and misuse?  Parents have the right to protect their children.  I continue to pray that AB277 will not pass and legislators will wake up to the deception of Pan, the California Medical Association, and Vaccine Manufacturers.  These people are protected from vaccine injury and death.  Throughout history parents have protected their children from evil laws.  In Hebrews 11:23 the parents are commended for hiding their baby from Pharaoh and not throwing him into the Nile.  “By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.”  Most families in California do vaccinate (about 95 percent).  Parents who choose not to, should be able to retain their freedom for that choice and be given free access to public services that are paid for with their money.  Parents, by God’s authority, are given the right to make informed decisions regarding their child’s health and welfare.

*Senator Joel Anderson supports parental rights and is voting “no” on AB277.

**Senator Patricia Bates responded in an email stating that she supported eliminating the philosophical exemption for parents, but voted “no” on May 14, 2105-against AB277 supporting parental rights and religious freedom.  Thank you Senator Bates!

A Helpful Gardening Book for “Little” Spaces

We purchased this book last week.  It has already given us helpful hints regarding our leaks and our strawberries.  We have been small back yard gardeners for 10 years.  We started with a few pots of tomatoes on our patio and have continued to expand into raised beds; using permaculture philosophies.  The learning never stops…we try new crops, have success one year and failure another.  This book is helping to bring more stability to our gardening adventure.

*I spotted this book for sale at Costco last weekend in the book section.

Hope for the Autistic, AB277, and Informed Consent

All people have a right to protect their bodies.  Parents have the God-given right to protect their children from all harm.  Last Wednesday, April 15th, parents filled the halls of Sacramento to voice their concerns over AB277.  Their voices were heard and the meeting was shut down.  The committee vote that was to happen on that day never did.  Vaccines are pharmaceuticals.  The Nuremberg Code of 1947 legalized informed consent.  All people have a right to informed consent before a pharmaceutical is put into their body.  AB277 is a direct violation of people’s rights.  This information is not reported in the main stream media, newspapers, and magazines because the pharmaceutical companies pay for advertising in those news outlets.  The news given to the general public is unbalanced, in favor of the benefits of vaccines.  There is much more research that needs to be done concerning vaccine safety.  In the last year, Dr. William Thompson, a CDC scientist, revealed that data had been concealed over a 13 year period that showed an increased risk of autism in certain individuals when given the MMR vaccine.  If vaccines are safe, then why has over 2 billion dollars been awarded to families for vaccine injuries from the United States government?  This is using taxpayers’ money!  The sad part of the story is that the money does not reverse the damage done to the children and families.  Autistic children are prisoners in their own bodies.  Tomorrow in Austin, TX, there is a Give Autism a Chance Summit http://www.austinautismsociety.org/event/give-autism-a-chance-summit-2015/.  The point of the conference is “to meet real people with real solutions”, Dr. Wakefield.  Dr. Wakefield and others believe that autism is a physical illness treatable with nutritional therapy and diet, supplements, and behavioral interventions.  Having cared for someone with Dementia and being nutritionally depleted myself after a pregnancy, I wholeheartedly believe there is hope for autistic children.

Springtime Seed Sprouting

seed sprouts 001 seed sprouts 002

In February, we sprouted seeds for spring planting.  Pictured on the table are heirloom tomato sprouts, two varieties of cucumbers, beets, cantaloupe, organic corn, pinto beans, orange bell peppers, and sugar pumpkins.  Most were planted on our “lower 40” on the first day of Spring.  *We discovered, today, that we forgot to sprout green bush beans.  Next week we will sprout those seeds and get them into the ground as soon as possible.

Learn Phonics, Spelling Rules, and Reading with Lexia Reading Core 5

Lexia Reading Core 5 is a wonderful, fun, interesting, and educational method to teach reading personally to your student.  It uses technology with interesting and encouraging lessons.  Rules are reinforced.  My student came to me with excitement after discovering the two different sounds of “c” in different contexts.  This is something I have been teaching him for years, but this program helped him get it.  Today, one syllable words were introduced that had double consonant endings (f,l,s, and z) when preceded by a short vowel as in the word “shell”.  This program is designed to enable the child to learn independently.  The program may be purchased individually or schoolwide.  Check it out.

Parental Rights, Senate Bill 277, Philosophical Exemptions…Follow the Money

A cute 7-year-old leukemia survivor, Rhett Krawitt, has done a commercial to persuade people to get their measles vaccine.  He is actually asking that people’s rights be taken away.  *Unfortunately, the commercial did not reveal that his grandpa Krawitt is linked to the vaccine company GlaxoSmithKline, manufacturer of the MMR vaccine.  Additionally, Rhett’s parents didn’t disclose that immunocompromised people should avoid citizens who have been sick or received the live vaccine of chicken pox, measles, rubella, polio, or small pox, or the internasal flu spray.  Why?  Because they are possibly contagious and can make other people sick.  A Senator in California, Dr. Richard Pan, Pediatrician, has introduced Bill 277 to remove parent’s personal belief exemption and possibly their religious exemption when deciding whether or not to inject a substance into their child’s body.  Dr. Pan was most likely educated at a medical school that taught basic vaccine theory.  Personally, I don’t believe all doctors have extensive knowledge about vaccines.  Also consider how much revenue vaccines make for the medical industry.  Senator Pan has taken money from vaccine companies (Merck, GlaxoSmithKline).  This is reminiscent of Governor Perry’s Gardasil vaccine mandate in Texas who also had ties to the vaccine industry.  This should disqualify Senator Pan from drafting Bill 277 and voting.  He has a major conflict of interest.  Bill 277 is unconstitutional based on the 4th and 9th amendments.  People have a right to their own bodies and it is the parent’s duty to protect their God-given children.  Parents should be able to make free and informed decisions regarding their family’s health.  A just law and Senator would do everything in their power to protect parent’s rights, not take them away.
